I’m in Florida. Still not sure what I’m going to do or where I’m going to stay. Here are a few pics from my visit with the girls.
Soon, very soon, I’m heading out on the road again. It’s been a busy and not so busy 7 months. I should have written something, but I didn’t. There were a lot of pictures I could have added, but I didn’t. I’m getting close to the limit of what I’m allowed here on the free site, so I’ll be taking some of the pictures out of the oldest posts. I’ll leave the words up, at least for awhile.
I’ll be leaving on October 30th. I get a free flu and tetanus shot from my former employer on the 29th. And I’ll be donating blood. I hope my arms won’t be too sore to drive my house!
My first stop will be in Tennessee. I get to spend a week or so with my great-nieces while their mom is away on Army business. I certainly hope the weather will be nice and the temps stay above freezing! Then I’ll be wandering down the road to Florida.
Since I ‘semi-retired’ on October 1st, I have been getting a lot of stuff done. Not as much as I wanted, since I ended up sick for about 10 days. It sucked . . . completely! So I will be leaving with the ‘must do’ list finished, but will still have something to do when I return, probably in the Spring.
Get ready for a photo blitz!
I’m home. It was a rough journey home. Something broke on my house EVERY day I was on the road. I’m mentally exhausted. I will try to get something up with more info, but for now, I’m just so not in the mood to write.
A part of Planet Hollywood is the Miracle Mile Mall. They designed it in a circle, so you have trouble finding your way out. I truly dislike shopping, but shopping for souvenirs, that I find tolerable. There is also a free fountain show here, so I figured why not.
Well, if you’re just going to the fountain show, you will be disappointed. No music, very short and not really spectacular.
But, it was free.
Outside there was this guy doing the spray painting, so I made a request and here is my picture!

Yes, M & M’s are food. But here, there is M & M World. You get to see a 20 minute 3D movie. Now, I don’t know if it’s because of the Lasik surgery, but this time the 3D glasses actually worked. The last time I tried to see something in 3D it looked exactly the same with and without the glasses, like you were looking at multiple images of the same thing.
Anyhow, there is also, of course, lots of M & M merchandise you can buy.
As for the other food, I tried a couple of different things. Panda Express is a fast food chain, but they do have good food.
Bobby’s Burger Palace is Bobby Flay’s restaurant.
Garrett Popcorn Shops had some good popcorn.
And BurGR is Gordon Ramsey’s burger joint in Planet Hollywood. Definitely the best burger I have had! Other than my own, of course!

I saw many of these people on Freemont St. It is probably the greatest people watching place I have ever been, including NYC.
This is an Elvis impersonator, of course. And he occasionally hands out chocolate bars!
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
At The Mirage hotel they have a volcano. It ‘erupts’ in the evenings, every hour on the hour.
When I was on a trip downtown to see Freemont St, we happened to be going by just as the eruption started.
The bus driver (I was on a tour bus, not the public transportation for this trip) stopped and we watched the whole thing from the top of a double-decker bus! They are so not supposed to do that!
And this is totally unrelated, but too short for its own post. I had to take some pictures of the McDonald’s signs. They even bling them out!
